Qur'anic Injunctions of Trade, Usury, Tafseer-e-Qurṭubī, Tafseerat-e-AhmadiyyaAbstract
Trade is an indispensable necessity without which the system of human society cannot run. The earning of halal sustenance and trying to avoid haraam are obligatory and necessary for every Muslim. The Holy Qur'an is the fundamental source of guidance and legislation in Islam, and it reveals as many detailed rules on trade and commercial transactions as any other book or religion provides. Allah Almighty has also made trade a means of meeting the economic needs of human beings. If trade is done in a lawful and halal manner, then the profit earned from it will also be considered halal. The Qur'an has given detailed injunctions on trade, widows and their types, prohibitions, and permissions related to them. It linked economics and trade with morality and spirituality. Explaining the rules of trade and economics is not an easy task. Muslim jurists put their efforts into deducing the rules from each verse and each word of this book. The paper at hand explores the meaning and rules of trade and commercial transactions mentioned by the īmam Qurṭubī and Mullah Jīwan. It highlights the jurisprudence applied by these commentaries on the Holy Book. This research describes Quranic verses and the rules deduced from them by the īmam Qurṭubī and Mullah Jīwan. It opens a new research question on financial transactions and facilitates the implementation of Qur'anic rules in the contemporary era.
