Abstract

Anti-competition practices can only be cured through the Competition Law in order to promote the free and fair market competition. Digital technologies has resulted into modern form of markets by adopting new model of businesses. The economic growth and social justice can only be promoted by way regulating this digital economy-oriented business by enacting effective legislations. Healthy economic growth and social justice is in need of the laws and their enforcement. This essay is an attempt to highlight the significant long-term issues that Pakistan's competition laws confront in relation to digital markets. No efficient literature can be found in connection with the study of competition law in Pakistan. This article is an attempt to study this neglected side of literature. The study aims to denote ever-increasing use of technology and emergence of new model of businesses. It will provide a brief historical overview of the evolution of competition law in Pakistan through time. The research aims to highlight while outlining the issues that Pakistan's current competition law faces. The analysis of qualitative data is used in this study. This article begins with an introduction, second section calls for increasing regulation, third section discusses the evolution of competition laws in Pakistan and final section concludes the discussion by recommending some recommendations.
